At Lit's coaxing, slave traders wither and degenerate into ugly old, helpless goats. The one credo Lit must follow: He is not to do anything that would alter history. Lit becomes one with Tugman, literally sharing her soul and her body, as he's transported into the violent hell of 19th century African slavery.
