89 illustrations, some color, some black-and-white. According to Wikipedia: The Lost Princess of Oz is the eleventh canonical Oz book written by L. Frank Baum. Published on June 5, 1917, it begins with the disappearance of Princess Ozma, the ruler of Oz and covers Dorothy and the Wizards efforts to find her. The introduction to the book states that its inspiration was a letter a little girl had written to Baum: I suppose if Ozma ever got hurt or losted, everybody would be sorry. The series includes: 1 The Wizard of Oz, 2 The Land of Oz, 3 Ozma of Oz, 4 Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz, 5 The Road to Oz, 6 The Emerald City of Oz, 7 The Patchwork Girl of Oz, 8 Tik-Tok of Oz, 9 The Scarecrow of Oz, 10 Rinkitink in Oz, 11 The Lost Princess of Oz, 12 The Tin Woodman of Oz, 13 The Magic of Oz, and 14 Glinda of Oz. According to Wikipedia: Lyman Frank Baum (1856 – 1919) was an American author, poet, playwright, actor and independent filmmaker, best known today as the creator, along with illustrator W. W. Denslow, of one of the most popular books in American childrens literature, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, better known now as simply The Wizard of Oz. He wrote thirteen sequels, nine other fantasy novels, and a plethora of other works (55 novels in total, 82 short stories, over 200 poems, an unknown number of scripts, and many miscellaneous writings), and made numerous attempts to bring his works to the stage and screen.
