The City of Peril by Arthur Stringer
Synopsis
Arthur Stringer (1874 – 1950) was a Canadian novelist, screenwriter, and poet who later moved to the United States.
In The City of Peril, an wealthy young man as the central figure of the action. He is spurred to life by the mocking thrust of a girl, jumps into a mystery of the New York underworld involving machinations of the Reds and incidentally meets there the brown-eyed girl who is apparently involved in the network of the nefarious underground pursuits and practices of the enemies to society. How he wins out holds the reader’s breathless interest, leaving no time whatever to pick flaws in the story which, unquestionably improbable and highly melodramatic, is nevertheless most engrossing.
