Synopsis

Set in the 1940s, this story takes a walk back in history to life in Kulim during the Japanese occupation of Malaya. The resourceful, young Tok Abah and his best friend, Tok Syed, help out by taking on jobs as ‘Rice Boys’ and barely escape being caught by soldiers. When the young Tok Abah meets the district officer, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj (later the first prime minister of Malaysia), who offers him the opportunity of becoming a teacher, his life changes forever.
