About the Book

The concepts of international trade and globalization are not alien in Islamic civilization. Trade has always played an important role in the activities of Muslims and Muslim countries. It has been recorded in history that the spread of Islam to various countries from Morocco in the West and Indonesia in the East was in part contributed by Muslim traders who travelled to those countries to trade as well perform da’wah, which in turn led to the conversion/reversion of the locals into the fold of Islam. This book presents the subject of International Economics not only from theoretical point of view, but also provides evidences of international trade theories in Muslim countries based on existing empirical works available. It is divided into ten chapters that include, inter alia, the condition of Muslim countries in the global world, history and theories of international economics, international monetary system and foreign exchange market. We hope that the topics presented in this book will initiate an open public discussion and further research on how to enhance international trade among Muslim countries.
