True leadership comes from the inside out, not the top down. The way we lead and influence people, in a ministry context, is not only by our words, decisions, directives or position, but also by the authenticity and example of our lives. It’s about who we are within. It’s about leading ourselves so we can effectively lead others. It’s exercising leadership in and over our own lives. This is called ‘self-leadership’. This book is about ‘self-leadership’—the intentional practice of disciplining, regulating and developing our lives and leadership so that we can effectively lead ourselves and others to fulfill God’s ultimate purposes of maturity and mission.
