The book describes a born again relationship between Jesus and an individual. From the time Jesus had walked on the Earth to this time presently the intent had always been for the relationship to be such. The gospels were always intended to be understood as a personal requirement. Through the hundreds of years that have followed from the time of Jesus, the gospels have mutated to be more Church oriented than person oriented.
