Summary of Promise Me, Dad by Paul Adams
Synopsis
Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose by Joe Biden | Conversation Starters
Promise Me, Dad is a new memoir from former Vice President of the United States Joe Biden. Promise Me, Dad was inspired by the death of Joe Biden's oldest son, Beau. Beau was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in 2013. On Thanksgiving of 2014, Beau Biden made his father promise that no matter what happened to him that he would go on and be okay. The following year would prove to be one of the most challenging years for Joe Biden. His son lost his life in May of 2015. Joe never showed his grief to the public, though, and managed to balance his work responsibilities with his personal ones. Through it all, Joe Biden was able to find comfort I his family and the man who had become his close friend, Barack Obama.
Promise Me, Dad has been called raw and honest by The New York Times. They go on to say that this book will be comforting to those who have lost someone close to them.
