Synopsis

Weaving is one of the oldest crafts, dating back to the Neolithic period, thousands of years before knitting was invented. Weaving was the first way humans found to clothe themselves with something other than skins and furs. Weaving, or woven fabric, touches you, literally, every day. Like that advertising slogan, it is “the fabric of your life.” The towels you use to dry yourself after your morning shower are woven. The white linen blouse or oxford shirt you put on for work is woven. The jeans you slip on in the evening to relax, the sheets you lie down on at night to sleep, the fabric of your sofa, chair seats, drapes, kitchen towels, and rugs are all woven. I wrote this book because, although I may not call myself a master weaver in the technical sense, on a spiritual level there are many things I have learned that I hope will be of help to you. Maybe, here in these pages, you will find a few words or ideas that show you how to weave more color or texture into your life, how to find the threads, the rhythm, the balance to weave a life of compassion, creativity, and spirituality. By understanding the power of the choices you make each day, of the importance of using quality tools, physical and spiritual, and developing the ability to stay flexible and creative, you will discover that you can be an adept and practiced weaver of your own life.
